SAN Storage and Network System Administrator at Sierra-Cedar, Inc.

The SAN Storage and Network System Administrator's primary role is to architect, design, plan, implement, administer, control, and generally provide support and optimization of SAN storage and Ethernet Network systems, in partnership with other teams.

Administrator also recommends and implements policies and standards, ensuring adherence to security procedures.

This is a remote position. Must be located in the U.S.


  • Manage current storage environment
    • Incorporates disk, cache, SAN, Fiber Switches, Fabric and Storage software
    • Resolve storage short falls
    • Alert and resolve performance issues and advise end users
    • High availability of data to all applications
    • Data Migrations
    • Replication
  • Manage current network environment
    • Incorporates firewalls, routers, switches, and load balancers
    • Resolve network short falls
    • Alert and resolve performance issues and advise end users
    • High availability of the network for all applications
    • Detect and prevent network intrusions, DOS attacks, etc.
    • Maintain SSL certificates
  • Application support
    • Work with application developers to determine storage and network requirements
    • Work with existing Developers, System Administrators and DBAs to optimize storage and networks
  • Monitor existing storage environment
    • Disk usage
    • Fiber switches usage
    • Performance
    • Storage availability
    • Reporting on status
  • Monitor existing network environment
    • Network usage
    • Network firewall, load balancer, and switch usage
    • Performance / Throughput
    • Network availability
    • Reporting on status
  • Capacity planning
    • Forecast pipeline of storage and network growth
    • Determine allocation of different storage and service tiers
    • Determine allocation of network resources
  • New product evaluations
    • Provide input from vendor proposals and input to requirements
    • Due diligence on new storage and network software
  • New installations
    • Responsible for planning of new storage and network installations
    • Perform any host-level tasks need to access new storage


  • 3+ years of experience in NetApp, Dell EMC VMAX, and Pure Storage Solutions
  • 3+ years of experience in Cisco, Palo Alto, and F5 Network Solutions
  • Experience in CLI for Storage and Network provisioning is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of SAN storage and fiber channel, understanding of performance solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and counter measures
  • Experience as a VMWare System Administrator is a plus
  • Experience as a Unix System Administrator is a plus
  • Experience as a Windows System Administrator is a plus
  • Experience with Oracle Database is a plus
  • Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus
  • Strong operating system and network knowledge in order to carry out assigned administrative tasks with the need for limited supervision
  • Basic working knowledge of Linux and Windows
  • Bachelors Degree required
